The clinic will be designed to develop a foundation for working with cattle and progressing from there.

We will start this clinic working with the cattle in the round pens.  The goal of this clinic will be a continuation on horsemanship, but also on the rules and preparing everyone for the Jackpot .

The clinic will be a hands on (rider on) clinic.

The clinics are a built more around a practice session.

Each team is given instructed practice in the round pen with the cattle followed by jackpots.

No prior experience working with cattle is necessary.
This clinic is designed for riders that are looking for a new way to enjoy their horses.

If you are currently active in the Team Sorting sport you and your horse would benefit from the clinic
by allowing your horse a stress free day of working with cattle without being under the clock.
Plus, we all know it helps broaden a horses mind when they are exposed to new locations.

Slow work is the best way to go faster when the time comes.
All work at the clinic will be done slowly.

If there is enough interest in a more advanced division we will work on putting one together.

We are also considering advancing to Arena Sorting at a later date.

Private lessons are available as well.
If you would like more one on one instructions we offer private sorting lessons for $45 per hour.

Sorting requires a lot of precise herd work, and it will really help to get you reading cattle.
There is a lot of teamwork as well, with things constantly shifting so that team members will rotate from the gate position to making the cut in the herd, to turnback as the situation calls for.

We will really work on the foundation of riding.

Sorting is an excellent way to give you and your horse a change in pace from the typical
trail riding or other forms of competition.   Sorting will allow you to work on your riding skills, help
develop your horses mind, and work on your horse rider relationship all the same time.

As an added bonus you will have to opportunity to make new friends with similar interest!

To try to ensure a fair system for different level riders to compete within. We have instituted a numerical rating system. All riders will be rated as follows:

  • Number 1 Rating: A Beginner Sorter
  • Number 2 Rating: A Novice Sorter
  • Number 3 Rating: An Intermediate Sorter
  • Number 4 Rating: An Advanced Sorter
  • Number 5 Rating:: A Professional Sorter

With us just starting we hope that everyone will be honest in their rating status. The total amount earned is per individual not per team.

  • $ 00.00 to $ 150.00 = #1
  • $150 - $300 = #2
  • $300 - $600 = #3
  • $600 - $1000 = #4
  • $1000 and up = #5

So if you have a #1 rated rider and a #2 rated rider then you will ride in the highest rated riders group.
